Multiple Greenwich Police Department units were dispatched to 205 Greenwich Avenue on a report of possible fraudulent credit card activity on Saturday, April 27 around 5 p.m.
Officers arrived and allegedly observed two males exiting the store, later identified as by their New York licenses as 23-year-old Dwayne Powell and 24-year-old Kimaley Barrett, both of Brooklyn.
Further investigation revealed that Powell was with Barrett when he purchased items totaling $2,940.58 using a fraudulent credit card that displayed Barrett’s name but belonged to another customer, according to police.
Police also say Powell had several other fraudulent credit cards concealed inside his boots.
During questioning, police say both Powell and Barrett continually changed their story and lied to the officers.
Police say Tamoya Miller, 22, of Jamaica, Queens, drove Barrett and Powell to the store and waited for them outside.
Powell, Barrett and Miller were arrested and charged with the following:
- Powell: Fourth-degree larceny
- Illegal use of a credit card
- Illegal reproduction of a payment card
- Third-degree identity theft
- Third-degree forgery
- Interfering with officers/resisting arrest
Bond: $75,000
- Barrett: Fourth-degree larceny
- Illegal use of a credit card
- <$500 on revoked payment card
- Illegal reproduction of a payment card
- Third-degree identity theft
- Criminal impersonation
- Third-degree forgery
- Interfering with officers/resisting arrest
Bond: $150,000
- Miller: Conspiracy to commit/fourth-degree larceny
Bond: $5,000
Powell, Barrett and Miller were unable to post their respective bonds and are scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court Monday, May 13.
